Coexistences is a work-in-progress that points out a tree as the main performer, and draws ways to instigate the public to interact with it, either by dancing or watching the small dances that happen along its body. I have been guided by the following questions: Which movements are possible between a human-body and a tree-body? How to create strategies and new narratives to reapproximate humanity and nature?
Embracing the idea that everything on Earth is nature and life migrates from body to body, the research is built through a practice of using spoken words emitted from one body, moving into space, and embodying other bodies, to reflect on coexistence.
Coexistences was present at LAKE Studios Berlin during its 10th Anniversary as part of the series UNFINISHED FRIDAYS: # 91 – 100 as a work-in-progress.
For that site I built a relation with a young Cherry tree and invited the audience to reflect on life, death and the act of eating as a multi-species encounter.
