"I KNOW THIS WARN IS WARNING SOMETHING FOR SOMEONE
BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS WRITTEN "

photos with a mobile device | years 2021 / 2022

ZAGREB, Croatia - BERLIN, Germany

Moved by the strangeness in relation to the language of Croatia and Germany, and trying to translate, in some way, this feeling of being a foreigner, I traveled short paths in the cities of Zagreb (2021) and Berlin (2022), registering signs, warnings, tickets, and advertisements. Proposing, then, through the photographic record, attention to these objects that, in addition to their common functionality – to inform –, also aesthetically compose the urban landscape.

The work arose from a provocation in the research project "The Infraordinary as a method of Investigation in Visual Arts" coordinated by Dr. Mariana Silva da Silva, to which I belong. The project is part of the Flume Education and Visual Arts Research Group (UERGS/CNPQ).

The work was part of the Virtual Exhibition "I'm fine but I could be a little better" held in 2021 during the pandemic period, and the one held in 2022 at the Loide Schwambach Art Gallery - BR, both proposed by the research group O Infraordinário as a Method of Investigation in Art and Education, and was inspired by the short story by Lydia Davis.

At the invitation of the Art Director of the foundation where the exhibition took place, Gustiele Fistaról, Mariana Silva da Silva and Mani Torres wrote together an essay called "Agora, estamos bem" (Now, we are fine), which was published in the Special Edition "Academic Performative Writing" of the Revista Da Fundarte em 2022.

The text collects images and reports from these three artists who shared their experiences and the creative processes driven by infra-provocations from the research group O infraordinário como método investigativo em arte e educação (The infraordinary as an investigative method in art and education), in which artists from different creative areas invent investigative practices based on the term infraordinaryby Georges Perec.
